Mike is a partner in the Lexington office of Turlington & Company, LLP. Since joining the firm in 1973, Mike has served in many capacities. During his career, Mike has served as the firm’s accounting and auditing partner, its managing partner, and is currently a senior partner in the firm. In addition to being a senior partner, Mike is currently head of the firm’s financial institution audit, tax and consulting practice.
Mike’s experience has allowed him to work with clients in many capacities. Mike understands the nuances of individual, partnership, and corporate taxation and is able to use that knowledge to assist clients with many needs. In his capacity as head of the financial institution practice, Mike tracks developments and trends in this specialized industry in order to best service the client’s audit, tax and consulting needs.
Mike graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. He earned the designation of Certified Public Accountant in North Carolina in March of 1976.
Mike is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA).
During his career, Mike has devoted numerous hours to serving the community on the local, state and national level. Mike is a past President of the Lexington Jaycees, past District Director and Treasurer of the North Carolina Jaycees, and past Treasurer of the United States Jaycees. Mike is also a former Secretary and Treasurer of the Edward C. Smith Civic Center Board of Directors, a past Treasurer and Chairman of the Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, a two-time past President of the Uptown Lexington, Inc. Board of Directors and past Chairman of the United Way of Davidson County. Mike is currently a board member of the Davidson County Airport Authority and has served as Chairman for six years. He also is the Chairman of the City of Lexington Long Range Planning Committee.
In addition to his firm and community work, Mike is a devoted family man. He has three children, two of which currently work for Turlington and Company, LLP, and two grandchildren. Mike is an active member of Tyro United Methodist Church.
